Officer Giovanni Poveda, or Gio as he is better known, is a 17-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department.  His assignments have included Uniform Patrol at Doral District, Auto Theft Investigations, Warrants Bureau, Robbery Intervention Detail, and Public Corruption Investigations Bureau.    Although an HPOA member for over nine years, Gio felt the need to do more for the Association and its membership, and became an active member about a year ago.  Gio feels that, as a Board Member, he represents not only the HPOA, but MDPD as well.  “It is an opportunity to show who we (HPOA members) are within theDepartment, and who we are as Hispanics.”
